LAS VEGAS – NAIOP Southern Nevada and the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies, Lee Business School at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas presents “Forecast 2020” on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at the Orleans Hotel & Casino.
National speakers Victor Calanog, Ph.D. and CRE®, Moody’s Analytics REIS and Greg Lindsay, NewCities Foundation, will headline this annual economic forecast event.
Calanog is chief economist and senior vice president at Moody’s Analytics REIS. He and his team of economists and analysts are responsible for market forecasting, valuation and real estate portfolio analytics services. He is also a fellow from the Wharton Business School. His presentation will include what’s in store in 2020 and how economy indicators will be interpreted. And, will 2020 be the year when a recession finally hits and what this will mean for different property types and geographic markets including Las Vegas.
Lindsay is the director of applied research at the NewCities Foundation and director of strategy for its mobility-focused offshoot, CoMotion. His presentation will include technologies, trends and policies for business models reshaping the real estate market, including autonomous vehicles and scooters. And, the dramatic changes in real estate mixed us including the first carless multifamily apartment complex in Tempe, AZ.
The morning event will also include a commercial market panel moderated by longtime local real estate developer Jeff LaPour. Panelists include Dan Adamson, of ROI Commercial Real Estate, who will represent the retail market; Garrett Toft, SIOR, of CBRE, who will examine the industrial market; and Ryan Martin, SIOR, CCIM, of MDL Group, who will discuss the local office market.
