(DENVER, COLORADO; LAS VEGAS, NEVADA) – HREC Investment Advisors has
announced the expansion of its brokerage platform with the hire of
hospitality and casino real estate expert Joshua Smith as a Senior Vice
President in a newly opened brokerage office in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mr. Smith brings over 20 years of transactional property experience in
the lodging and gaming arenas to HREC. During his career he gained
hospitality specific real estate skills in acquisitions, disposition,
development and expert testimony. Josh has served as a trusted advisor
on over 250 hospitality and gaming assignments totaling over $20BB in
volume and valuation. He is widely recognized as a “go to” real
estate professional in Las Vegas and Nevada.

Prior to joining HREC Investment Advisors, Josh led the creation of the
hospitality division at Sun Commercial Real Estate Inc. He played a
significant role in founding the Colliers International Gaming Group and
acted as a trusted advisor to several global and local
hospitality/gaming companies. Josh spent 7 years with CBRE, Inc. where
he spearheaded the growth and integration of the Valuation and Advisory
Services gaming practice with the Global Gaming Group in Las Vegas. Mr.
Smith was an intern with HREC in 2003-2004 when earning his Masters in
Real Estate.
Josh is passionately involved in the Las Vegas community, with education
and various hotel programs. He has served on the Real Estate Investment
Management Advisory Council at MSU’s School of Hospitality since 2005.
He has guest lectured at Michigan State University and UNLV. Josh is a
graduate of _The_ School of Hospitality Business, Eli Broad College of
Business at Michigan State University and holds a Master Degree in Real
Estate Finance and Construction from at the Franklin L. Burns School of
Real Estate at the University of Denver. Josh was a Top Producer at
CBRE in 2009, VEGASINC “40 under 40” in 2013 and one of The School
of Hospitality Business Distinguished 75th Anniversary Year Alumni”
recipients.
