U.S. Micro Building Set To OpenU.S. Micro Corp., a computer recycling company, will preview its new Las Vegas headquarters on Oct. 13. The company’s $15 million, 130,000-square-foot facility at 7000 W. Teco Ave. will create 100 new jobs.  The two-story building, on 6.48 acres, is located inside the Buffalo/215 BusinessPark at the southwest corner of Buffalo Drive and Post Road. Panattoni Development Co. bought the foreclosed 19-acre office and retail complex two years ago from Nevada State Bank for an undisclosed price. “The building consists of 74 concrete panels with the largest panel weighing 157,000 pounds, ” Panattoni Construction Senior Vice President Matt Clafton said. “The 26-foot-tall building will be roughly the length of six basketball courts laid end to end.” The concrete-and-glass building is sustainable, too, using natural daylight, photovoltaic panels, a storm-water collection system and drought-tolerant landscaping. The project is pursuing a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.U.S. Micro Corp. buys used computer equipment and erases data before recycling plastics, metals and glass into construction materials and finished products for reuse in bicycle racks and outdoor furniture, among other things. The company is an authorized refurbisher for computer software giant Microsoft Corp.
