January employment improved significantly with eight of 10 sectors reporting gains, suggesting the economy is on the mend, says Marcus & Millichap chief economist Hessam Nadji. The U.S. private sector has now added jobs for 23 consecutive months, with 257,000 new positions in January alone. Professional and business services, one of the primary office-using segments, led the way with the addition of 70,000 positions, while manufacturing expanded by 50,000 employees last month.
