NAIOP Manufacturing Jobs Gone For GoodThe U.S. has shed precious manufacturing jobs in the last decade, and the rate of losses only accelerated during the downturn, said George Mason University’s Dr. Stephen Fuller in an exclusive interview with NAIOP. Those jobs aren’t coming back anytime soon. Businesses are producing more with fewer workers during the recession. Unproductive employees are more likely to be fired in favor of those who work longer and harder. Companies simultaneously invested in their operations, updating everything from machines to software, thereby trimming the need for employee rehiring. Business profits have soared, as a result, while job growth has stagnated.
