New Legal Aid Center To Break GroundThe $13 million Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada officially breaks ground on Monday, October 10, in downtown Las Vegas. Martin-Harris Construction is the contractor, with JMA as architect. The Vista Group‘s Mike Saltman is project manager. The facility will feature two floors of office space; multiple conference rooms; and a 100-seat classroom, among other things. The 53-year-old, 60-employee nonprofit provides legal assistance to low income Clark County residents. “Over the last five years, our growth has been exponential and the economic downturn only accelerated the need for our services,” said former assemblywoman and center executive director Barbara Buckley. “In 2010 alone, we served more than 45,000 people with their civil legal cases.”
