Timeshares Add $70 Billion to U.S. EconomyThe U.S timeshare industry contributed $70 billion to the economy in 2011, according to a study conducted by Ernst & Young for the American Resort Development Association (ARDA). That includes a total of 493,000 jobs with $23 billion in income. Overall, the travel industry has created 271,000 new jobs since March 2011, which is 26% more than the rest of the economy. The industry’s impact includes sales and marketing offices, corporate operations, the construction of new resorts, renovations of existing properties and expenditures by vacationers.
