State to Spend $552 Million on Local RoadsNevada plans to spend $552.4 million on Clark County road projects next year, a slight decrease from the prior year. However, it’s uncertain whether the money will be available to pay for local road jobs. The state transportation department has plans for 87 projects, including $24 million on the U.S. Highway 93 Boulder Bypass from one mile south of the junction of U.S. Highway 95 and U.S. 93 to Foothills Road. It calls for constructing a frontage road with retaining walls and relocating utilities and building drainage facilities. But the funding source has yet to be identified. The state board also approved a $52.3 million project for I-15 at Cactus Avenue in Las Vegas for construction of a six-lane roadway with an interchange at I-15. Funding would come from the state gas tax and other funds including federal money.
